Berkeley’s Westbrae Neighborhood
Centered on the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Gillman Street, Berkeley’s Westbrae neighborhood offers fine living at an affordable price. Full of the charm you’d expect from an older neighborhood, Westbrae offers tree-lined streets, affordable family homes, and numerous amenities that make it a great place for families.
The older homes found in this neighborhood are well kept and attractive, boasting green lawns and finely manicured landscaping. Shaded streets offer a perfect backdrop for the numerous Spanish revivals, bungalows, and revived farmhouse and Victorians from the area’s earliest days.
Family and Fitness
Despite its laid back feel and small town charm. Westbrae offers plenty of fun for the families who call this neighborhood home. The Peralta Community Garden offers residents an arena for a new kind of extended family living, and along the southern edge is the spacious green of Cedar Rose Park.
Restaurants and Shopping
Located along a small strip of Gillman Street is the neighborhood’s retail area. Some favorites are The Natural Grocery Company, Westbrae Nursery and the destination restaurant Lalime’s. Currently under construction is the Westbrae Biergarten. Look for it later this spring.
